Tell us what you were doing and what happened. If it's about a scan, a description of the label helps — please don't send us your home address unless we ask.
Scanning labels
- Get close. Fill the frame with the label. Most unreadable scans are taken from too far away.
- Add light. Use the flashlight button — labels are often in dark basements and closets.
- Check each field. Anything marked "Check this" or "Unsure" is worth comparing against the label before you save.
- Can't read it? Choose "Enter by hand" — nothing you've done is lost.
Where labels usually are
- Furnace: inside the front panel, or on a sticker on the side.
- Water heater: a tall sticker on the front of the tank.
- Electrical panel: inside the door. Photograph the label; don't open the panel itself.
- Refrigerator: inside the door, or behind the crisper drawer.
- Dishwasher: on the inside edge of the door.
- Washer and dryer: inside the door, or on the back panel.

In an emergency
If you smell gas, leave the building and call 911 or your gas utility from outside.
AmazingHome can tell you where your shutoffs are, but it isn't an emergency service and can't contact anyone for you.
